...opposites attract, right? case in point: the Mister and me. we are pretty much as opposite as it gets.
me? i'm kind of a slob. don't get me wrong. i definitely like things to be clean, but i'm not so successful with the putting-things-back-where-they-belong side of it. just not my strong suit. the Mister, on the other hand, is the king of all things clean. i mean, he's amazing. on a daily basis he makes the bed, does the laundry, washes dishes, and vacuums the floors. and that's just the beginning. it is not unusual for me to come home to find him on a conference call, negotiating a big business deal, wielding a swiffer or scrub brush, a chamois thrown nonchalantly over his shoulder. he's a machine.
he's obsessed with sports. i mean really, truly obsessed. and it's not any particular one. it's all of them. if there are uniforms and some element of competition, he's into it. and me? not so much. sure, i like a team or two...but i don't keep up with statistics and rankings and whatnot. the Mister loves to keep me filled in on all of these things. everyday. and like a good wife, i pretend i know what he's talking about and that i care. and whether or not he knows i'm pretending, he seems to appreciate the effort.
i'm kind of a book nerd. i'll read anything and everything. like, cereal box anything. today at work, in fact, i polished off 2 short novels during my break. i know- dork, party of 1. the Mister, however, is NOT a reader....unless it's an article in a golf magazine or something of the like. he doesn't get how i can read for hours on end and i don't get how he can't. and, presumably because of my love of all things written, i'm a bit of a pronunciation/ vocabulary snob. so, when the Mister uses expressions such as "button down the hatches" and "i'm gonna get me some (insert whatever he feels like at the moment)", i can't help but cringe/smile a little.
despite these differences, though, he is the sweet to my tea, the turnip to my green. and let me tell you, i do so love this country boy of mine.
